Information

Named after the 33 pieces of the human spine, this exhibition by Rebecca Belmore presented a series of new, interrelated works based on past and ongoing concerns in her performance and installation works. Transforming the gallery into a temporary studio, the exhibition took shape in the form of residual or newly made sculptural and auditory works. The exhibition travelled to Dunlop Art Gallery (Regina), WKP Kennedy Gallery (North Bay), Parry Sound Station Gallery (Parry Sound), Art Gallery of Sudbury (Sudbury), and Definitely Superior (Thunder Bay).

A roundtable discussion, titled Performance as Document, with Sylvie Gilbert, Johanna Householder, Clive Robertson and Rebecca Belmore was held on February 13, 2001. The exhibition received financial support from the Canada Council.

A catalogue with essays by Dot Tuer and Barbara Fischer is available.
