Exhibition Statement

This exhibition presents the new interest in collage practices by artists from Canada and the United States: Marc Bell, Paul Butler, Miguel da Conceicao, dearraindrop, Amy Lockhart, Jason McLean, and Toronto-based Jennifer Murphy. The artists' works incorporate conventional forms of collage, such as collecting, combining, cutting, covering and layering found images and commonplace materials to create new images and meanings. Demonstrating the continued relevance of collage, the artists boldly form a new aesthetic moment and, in some instances, a political agenda. A special issue of 'I Got Killed I Got Killed I Got Killed in World War Three' accompanies the exhibition.
